And now to the inspiring Bernadette Doyle.

She’s a transformational expert and the founder of the Online Profits University, an online school that teaches entrepreneurs how to create and grow new income streams.

Bernadette’s entrepreneurial journey began at the age of 26 where she was successfully trading her time for money and found herself overwhelmed and constantly hustling.

After the birth of her first son, Bernadette found that her own success had become an anchor. As the demands on her time grew, suddenly she needed a team and to house and manage that team. Her previous business model was simply unsustainable.

Then she switched to an online model and time turned from scarce resource to a limitless one.

By packaging her expertise into products and online programs and connecting with customers by teleconference and webinar, she doubled her income in her first year as a new mother, all with time to spend with her family. By 2008, Bernadette had generated a million dollars in online sales and even masterminded personally with Sir Richard Branson, all with the free time to be a single mother to her two children.

Today she shares some important advice about how to get out of our own way … in particular shed the beliefs that can hold us back in business and in life.

Melinda Wittstock:         Bernadette, welcome to Wings.

Bernadette Doyle:           Thank you. I'm delighted to be here.

Melinda Wittstock:         I'm excited to have you too. Anyone who knows how to turn time from a scarce resource into a limitless one is good in my books, right. What's inspiring you right now?

Bernadette Doyle:           I'm always inspired by my clients. I see them stepping up every day, and busting through their limits, and busting through their limiting beliefs, and taking action. And I've got one client who's just 100 times to her highest price point. So this time last year, her highest price point was 275 euros, and now she's selling a 27K package and getting it.

Melinda Wittstock:         That's amazing. It's so interesting, isn't it? How women tend to under price our products and services?

Bernadette Doyle:           Yeah. I think it's a lot of fear. I think there's a lot of fear about what people will think. I think it's fear about judgment. I think it's fear of not being good enough. And those are typically the things that I have to help people work through as they really start to price according to the value that they're really delivering.

Melinda Wittstock:         Absolutely. It's funny with business coaches and all entrepreneurs, you soon realize that the entire game is about mindset. You fix that, then everything else follows.

Bernadette Doyle:           That's so true.

Melinda Wittstock:         And so everybody has challenges along the way, because we never reach a destination, it's a journey. So what are some of yours?

Bernadette Doyle:           What are some of my challenges?

Melinda Wittstock:         Yes.

Bernadette Doyle:           Right now, because of a change in my life, I actually find myself in having more time than I'm used to. So, that's just because up until this time last year, I had a son in primary school, he's now at secondary school, it's suddenly given me probably about an extra 20 hours a week. And you think that would be a really good thing but actually, I'm going through a little bit of like, I don't know how to make the best use of this time. So I suppose it's like people who suddenly find themselves coming into money and then they're worried about squandering it or how they're going to make decisions about it. So it is a nice problem to have, but that's my biggest challenge right now.

Melinda Wittstock:         So you unlock abundance and then, oh my God, what to do with the abundance?

Bernadette Doyle:           Yeah.

Melinda Wittstock:         It's kind of funny.

Bernadette Doyle:           Yeah.

Melinda Wittstock:         So, what are your top three pieces of advice based on your own journey, and what you've learned, and working with all your clients, that you would pass on to women entrepreneurs at whatever stage they are on the journey?

Bernadette Doyle:           Number One has to be, that it's your plan. So I say to all my female clients, you need to understand that there's a plan for you, even if you can't see it yet, even if you don't know what it is yet. A lot of the pain and challenges you're experiencing is because you're trying to follow someone else's model, you are a square peg trying to fit into a round hole. And the moment you just let go of trying to copycat or model someone else's success, and start getting really discerning about what success means to you, and what energizes you and what drains you, you can start to propel to your ideal business plan very, very fast.

Melinda Wittstock:         That's very, very true. So, that's number one, what's two?

Bernadette Doyle:           Number two has to be, raise your prices. And you think, well that's a bit bold to make a blanket statement but I can't think, in over 15 years of doing this, that I've ever come across someone whose prices are too high and they needed to adjust their prices downwards to get more clients. More often than not, the people that I encounter are experiencing pain in their business because they're not charging enough. And they either don't think they can charge more or they are frightened of charging more, but either way, there's always some mindset piece of work we have to do to get their prices in alignment with the value that's going to bring.

Melinda Wittstock:         Yeah, that's absolutely true because it's not so much the price. When people are buying a product, they're buying it because it's going to solve a problem and it just has to be clear to them that, that problem is going to be solved and there's going to be tremendous value as a result. So, that's the critical thing to get right in my experience with all the women that I work with as well and men, it's the same thing. So what's number three?

Bernadette Doyle:           Number three would be about doing the mindset work so that you can do number two. [inaudible [spp-timestamp time="00:04:56"] can raise your prices. And I think it's important to say that this work is never done. Too many people would now look at me and say, well, she's got a successful business, I've had a multi seven figure business for a long time now, but I'm not 100 million yet, I'm not a 10 million yet. And so I recognize like, What's stopping me getting there, that's mindset works, that's my journey, those are my next steps.

Melinda Wittstock:         It's so interesting, having grown a number of businesses, because I'm one of those serial entrepreneurs, my kids thought I ran the Cheerios company for a long time, when they'd hear me say that. But I know the blocks that happened. There's a block just getting from five to six figures, getting from low six figures to high six figures, getting to a million, then you get stuck again at three, it's easy to get stuck again at 10, etc, right? Because you have to almost be different people for each phase of that growth.

Bernadette Doyle:           Yeah, I think that's true and often the strategies that helped you to get to a certain stage, not only are they not what you need at the next stage, but they actually might harm you. And I've seen that with people going from zero to 100K, you normally have to hustle and you have to have the mentality of it's going to be it's up to me. But then once you're at 100K, if you really want to scale beyond that, then you have to start letting go and allowing other people to come in and you need to start delegating. So, it's an interesting paradox.

Melinda Wittstock:         Yes, indeed, it is. All very good pieces of advice. And so Bernadette, how can people find you and work with you?
