Show Notes
We all fear failure, and perhaps also success. And to grow a business, failure is something to be embraced because failure is feedback. Yet all too often most of us are afraid to get out of our comfort zones where the magic happens.
Oftentimes entrepreneurial success is about being willing to buck conventional wisdom – being willing to #failforward, being open to tackling that inner negative self-talk and clear out the mental and emotional cobwebs that hold us back from the success was want and deserve.
J.J. Flizanes started out as a personal trainer, and has since grown her business Invisible Fitness, where she also hosts several popular podcasts on holistic health and fitness. She’s also the best-selling author of “The Invisible Fitness Formula: 5 Secrets to Release Weight and End Body Shame”.
Here are some of J.J.’s tips for women in business:
- We’re in Breakdown: The good news though, is that breakdown is a necessary part of positive change, and we can remake ourselves to balance mind-body-spirit, to be in stillness, to breath.
- Let yourself grow with your business and let your business teach you what wounds need to be healed: “When businesses don’t grow, or they get stuck, is when we just want to say, ‘Well, its just business.’ Not when you’re an entrepreneur! It’s not just business when you’re an entrepreneur. It’s business when you work for somebody else because you’re coming into their energy, but when you created something, there is no way to separate that that’s somehow a reflection of you. If we’re women trying to be men, wanting to keep business separate and not allowing our businesses to grow us, then I think that’s where we’re going to be weighed down because we’re not taking the hint. We’re not taking the cue.”
- When Someone Upsets You, Look at Yourself: Victim mentality keeps you in victimhood: “You cannot control anybody else; all you can control are your thoughts, your interpretations, your reactions, and then your actions. It’s about listening to your feelings and figuring out what the wound is. What’s going on within me…that I took that personally? What’s in me that needs to be healed? True healing is when you are different in the same situation. Not avoiding situations or avoiding people who trigger you. It’s about being able to rise above that to heal whatever that is.”
